5. Forgetting the Subject-Verb Relationship

The form of the verb tells you who performs the action. Pay attention to the relationship between the subject and the conjugated verb.

Compare:

Yo vivo aquí.
I live here.

Ellos viven aquí.
They live here.

6. Learning Tables Without Context

Conjugation tables are useful, but memorizing isolated forms is not enough.

A verb becomes much easier to remember when you repeatedly see it in meaningful sentences and everyday communication.

16. Practice Lab

The Practice Lab is designed to help you turn passive knowledge into active use.

At this stage, focus on recognizing verb forms, identifying the subject, understanding the meaning, and noticing how the verb functions inside a sentence.

What You Should Be Able to Recognize

  • the infinitive form of a verb;
  • the subject of a sentence;
  • the correct conjugated form;
  • whether the verb is regular or irregular;
  • the main meaning of the sentence;
  • the role of the verb in context.

Build Sentences from Patterns

Instead of memorizing complete sentences only, learn reusable patterns.

Subject + verb + object

Yo hablo español.

Subject + verb + place

Vivo en Madrid.

Subject + querer + infinitive

Quiero estudiar.

Subject + poder + infinitive

Puedo hablar.

From Recognition to Production

The goal of this lesson is to move through several stages:

  1. Recognize the verb.
  2. Understand its basic meaning.
  3. Recognize its conjugated form.
  4. Understand its role in the sentence.
  5. Reuse the same structure with new vocabulary.

The detailed exercises and assessment activities associated with this lesson can be completed through the course quizzes.
