Grammatica inglese: ausiliari e preposizioni

In inglese, gli ausiliari sono verbi speciali che aiutano a costruire le frasi nei diversi tempi verbali, a formare frasi negative, interrogative o enfatiche. Gli ausiliari principali sono: to be, to have e to do.

Inoltre, esistono anche ausiliari modali (come can, may, must, will, should, ecc.) che verranno trattati in una lezione a parte.

Verbi Ausiliari

Gli ausiliari sono verbi fondamentali nella grammatica inglese. Servono a costruire frasi negative, interrogative e tempi verbali composti. I tre principali ausiliari sono:

3. Il verbo ausiliare “To Do”

Il verbo to do è un ausiliare neutro, cioè non ha significato proprio quando è usato per costruire frasi interrogative, negative o interro-negative con altri verbi ordinari.

Ad esempio, con il verbo to eat (mangiare), nella frase affermativa diciamo:
You eat bread. → Tu mangi pane.

Ma per la forma negativa, interrogativa o interro-negativa, dobbiamo usare “do”:

Il verbo do può essere anche un verbo principale e significare fare. In questo caso, può essere usato assieme al suo stesso ausiliare.

4. Preposizioni in inglese

Le preposizioni sono parole che collegano nomi, pronomi o frasi ad altre parti della frase. In inglese, molte preposizioni hanno più significati e possono cambiare a seconda del contesto.
